30 weeks

Wow 30 weeks already! This pregnancy has really flown by. I figured it would be going by so slow. It may feel slow at the very end who knows.

My energy level is getting lower and lower. I usually get really sore and achy at night. I think it has a lot to do with what position he's in. He's been on a nerve since some time last night. I can feel just about every nerve in my lower back. Its not so fun. I've heard that some women get a burst of energy towards the very end of their pregnancy. I hope and pray I am one of them. I have so much that needs to be done.

My next doctors appointment is this coming Thursday the 4th at 10:30am. I'm curious to find out how much weight I've gained. I'm guessing I've gained 3 pounds since my last visit. I feel like my belly has gotten noticeably bigger since then. I can even tell a difference from last weekend. He's moving so much in there. My belly has been looking lop sided more so. Its so funny. I can usually tell which side he is on. Last night I was touching my belly and I could feel his heel (or other body part). I got Nathan to feel and has he pushed on that spot the baby jumped and moved. It was so neat.

I'm getting so excited about meeting this little guy. I can't wait to see what he looks like. I'm very ready to hold him, kiss him, snuggle him, and smell him. My child will have so many pictures taken of him. I can't even wait.

I visited my parents today and I had my Mom take my pictures. For one who is nervous about using a camera, she did pretty well.

My belly button is becoming a lot more noticeable now. Its funny looking.

Hummingbird Cake

I'm finally posting about the cake I made my Mom on her birthday back in July.

The birthday girl!

Hummingbird Cake

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 (8 oz) can crushed pineapple (undrained)
2 cups chopped walnuts (divided)
2 cups chopped bananas
Cream Cheese Icing (see below)

Combine dry ingredients in large mixing bowl. Add eggs and oil, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Do not beat. Stir in vanilla, pineapple, 1 cup walnuts, and bananas. Spoon batter into 3 well-greased and floured 9-inch cake pans, or one large oblong pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until cake is done. Let cool completely. Spread Cream Cheese Icing over cooled cake and sprinkle with remaining 1 cup walnuts.

Cream Cheese Icing

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 (16 oz) box powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Combine cream cheese and butter; cream until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy.

This cake is amazingly delicious!! I was very tempted to make myself one because its just that good. There are a few things I did differently than the recipe. I used self-rising flour instead of all-purpose. That way I didn't have to to use salt or baking soda. I also left out the walnuts. This was my second time making the cake and I chose to use store bought frosting this time around. The first time I made it I tried the Cream Cheese frosting recipe. It was very tasty but it basically dripped all over the cake. It wasn't thick at all. That's why I bought frosting instead. As you can tell by the pictures I only used 2 pans instead of 3. I think I prefer it being a 2 layer cake. The first time I made it I did 3 layers, but they were so thin. I believe its easier doing 2 layers. If you decide to make it...ENJOY!!

I seriously may have to make another one! Hmmm maybe I'll do cupcakes. :) I could probably eat a whole cake right now.

29 weeks

I'm officially in the 3rd trimester. So hard to believe! We have 75 days to go. That's exciting and nerve racking all at the same time.

So far our little boy (who still has no name) is getting so much stronger. He's moved up higher now. He has moved so high up that he gets in my ribs a lot. When he gets up high its mostly on the right side. It can be very uncomfortable, but at least I know he's growing. He feels like he's trying to fight his way out. Even though it can be uncomfortable at times, I'm so happy that he's active. It can be very reassuring.

Last Friday me and my Mom finished up the baby registries. It was so much fun getting to do that with her. She loved it just as much as I did. I had way too much fun zapping things. I know I won't get everything but it sure was fun.

Tomorrow or should I say today (its already midnight) I'm going with Korey to the local birthing center. That is if I can make an appointment. I plan on looking at the slings/wraps and cloth diapers. I asked Korey along since I know she would enjoy it too. I won't be able to purchase anything yet, but I wanted to get an idea of what I'm looking for. I'm also still deciding on the whole cloth diapering. If we choose to do it then I plan on doing disposables at first. Then changing over to cloth diapering. We still have time to figure it out.

Here's my 29 week pictures. They were actually taken on time.

More news on the house

One week ago we went to Nathan's Aunts house to look at it again. While we were there she told us that she was going down on the price of the house. She took $10,900 off the price. That helps tremendously. She's also getting rid of her realtor. We were happy to hear that too. Right now we're still waiting on to see how much Nathan's raise is this year. He should be having his evaluation this month just not sure when. Things are looking good. We're still praying everything works out. She's giving us till the middle of next month to decide if we can buy it or not. We're also thinking about keeping our house and renting to our friends for at least a year. Then see if maybe they would like to buy or maybe his brother. We shall see.

Couple of weeks ago Nathan called the bank lady (the one who never called back). He actually got in touch with her. She apologized and said she had a family emergency with her son & Mother. Whether that's true or not we will never know. Nathan told her he thought she fell off the face of the earth, because he never heard from her. He also told her this is a serious matter. She apologized more. Well she promised to call Nathan later that evening to give him the list of things he would need for her to see what kind of loan we qualify for. She did keep her promise and called later that evening. We missed the call.

She called Nathan back last week and then emailed him the list of everything he needs. He got everything together and met with her last week. We qualify for a lot more than what we need but that is great. We do have to put a bit more down on the house since we will be paying closing cost. We should have it all by next month. While he was there he found the brochure for the home inspector that inspected the house we currently live in. Thankfully its only going to cost $200 since the house is less than 2,000 sq. ft. Things are coming together. Everything is all ready for us to make an offer on the house, but we'd rather wait till we know what Nathan's pay raise is. We both strongly feel like everything will work out for us to get the house. God is moving!

In my next post I plan on sharing pictures of the cake I made for my Mom's birthday. I'll post the recipe as well. Its so good I almost want to make another. :)

28 weeks and 1 day

I cannot believe how fast time has flown by during this pregnancy. Its unreal. I only have 82 days to go. Of course that is if he comes on time. I know towards the end it will probably drag.

In the last few days I've been feeling even more tired, more uncomfortable, not sleeping well, worse heart burn & indigestion, and a whole lot more back pain when standing too long. Of course this is all to be expected. If the old wives tale is right then my baby will have lots of hair (referring to heartburn).

So far these days I try not to make too many plans. I never know how I'm going to feel day to day. Although I do have a week vacation coming up next month and a weekend trip in October. Those are the biggest plans thus far.

Here's my pictures for 28wks and 1 day:

I decided to show my belly this time around. Still not perfectly round. I may wait a while before I show my belly again. That's not something I like to show, but I do want a few real belly pics before baby is here.

Glucose Test

Yesterday was the day of my glucose test. I was happy to be able to eat a small meal before going. It was raining so bad that I decided to leave early. Thankfully I got to the doctors office 15 minutes early. I signed in and then went to give a urine sample. Right when I got out the nurse at the front asking me what flavor of Glucola I wanted. I told her orange. I had 5 minutes to drink it. It wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. It was like a very sweet kool-aid. If I thought about it too much it would have made me sick. It was mind over matter. Thankfully I didn't get sick.

After I drank the Glucola the nurse took me to get weighed. I gained 3lbs this time. I asked her how many pounds have I gained this whole pregnancy. She said in total I've only gained 4lbs. I couldn't hardly believe it. She said some women don't hardly gain weight during pregnancy. Its almost as if my weight is being pulled from other areas and going straight to my stomach. Which that is fine by me. ;) I'm sure I'll gain a lot more weight towards the end.

I met another doctor finally. His name is Dr. Smith. The only problem I have with the 2 doctors I've met so far is that they are in such a hurry. It doesn't make me feel too good when they are rushing my visit. When they act like they are in such a hurry it makes me forget everything I was wanting to talk about. Nathan told me next time I go to tell them that. I believe I will. We're paying so they shouldn't try to push me out of the room just about. Anyways. Dr. Smith checked the heartbeat and as soon as he'd find it the baby would move. He said he believes the baby was on a sugar high from the glucola. He finally found the heartbeat and it was just as strong as ever. His heartbeat was 136 bpm. He measured me and everything looks good.

I told the Doc about how I've been hurting more at night in my belly area. Mostly cramping and pains in my skin (probably stretching). He said that its all normal.

My next appointment is September 4th. Only 3 weeks till then. After that appointment I'll be going every 2 weeks after that. Once I was done checking out I had to go to the Lab to give blood. I had to wait till 11:57am to get it taken. So I had to wait an additional 30 minutes before they could take me back. It was finally time to get it taken and thankfully it wasn't bad at all.

I'm so glad that visit is all over with. When I got home I ate lunch with Nathan. Then I took a 2 hour nap.

I can't believe I'll be 7 months this Saturday!

27 weeks and 1 day

Last week was one of those weeks where I barely had any energy. It was difficult to get myself to do anything. I'm praying this week I will have more energy to get things done around my house.

Saturday afternoon Nathan said, "I had the most wonderful dream last night." I asked him what it was about and he said he dreamed that our son was born. He said he got to hold and kiss on him. He said he was perfect. I love those moments when he shares things like that with me. Definitely melts my heart.

The night before he had his arm around my belly as we were going to sleep. He was able to feel the baby moving a little bit. As he fell asleep the baby started kicking his arm. It was so strong that I could feel his arm jump. I was going to say something about it to him but he was sound asleep. When I told him about that the next day after he shared the dream with me, he said that's probably why he dreamed that. He said when he woke up his arm was in the same place.

Lately I've been told that I look like I've lost weight in my face and chest area. Some have actually used the word "skinny". Which is the best thing I could ever hear. lol I've never been told I look "skinny" before. That's a new one. This coming Saturday I'll be 7 months along. I still don't look near as big as most at this stage in my pregnancy. In some ways that's a good thing. I do feel like it is noticeable that I am pregnant.

On Saturday Nathan finally went with me to Babies 'R' Us. It was a lot of fun getting to add stuff together to our registry. I still need to go add more things. It meant a lot to have him with me to share that experience together. I told him that's the only time he has to go to add stuff to our registry. He hasn't been looking forward to going, but later that day he admitted that he did enjoy some of it. I knew he did, because he wanted to scan things. He picked up a few items and was like oh we need this. Then I was looking at blankets and he would say stuff like "oh how about that one because it has animals on it?" It was so cute. I loved every minute of it.

On Wednesday I go for my glucose test. I'm not looking forward to that at all. I have to make sure tomorrow that I don't eat hardly anything with sugar in it. That may prove to be difficult. I'll be updating then about how everything goes.

26 weeks and 1 day

This morning when Nathan and I were in bed I felt the baby really moving. I don't mean a kick hear and there, it was full on whole body moving. Nathan has only felt a few light kicks. I told him to give me his hand and I placed it on my belly. Nathan said, "Oh WOW I can feel him moving!". He was so happy to feel him really move. He had some strong kicks in there too. I could feel him kick my belly and then see Nathan's hand jump. It was awesome! I was thrilled that Nathan got to finally feel him move like that.

Earlier I was able to catch the baby moving on video!! Eeek I'm so happy! You will notice the most movement in the first 20-30 seconds of the video. I think you may be able to see him moving on later in the video. Please excuse my annoying voice on here.

This isn't even the extent of his movements. I wish could capture it when he's moving back and forth on both sides. The further along I get I may have a better chance.

Movement

I made a few vidoes the other night while the baby was moving. However, its hard to tell in the video when he moves. I'll keep trying till I get one that's good enough to post. I also realized how horrible I sound on there. That makes me really not want to post anything.

Since our little boy has been moving he's mostly moved right at and under my belly button. Yesterday he actually moved on the right side above the area of my belly button. I couldn't hardly believe it. It felt very weird. That means he's growing and soon I should have a much more round belly. :)
